KARACHI: Six local outfits will compete in the first-ever five-a-side women’s hockey league which is being held under the aegis of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) at their premises from July 20 to 23, the KHA said on Thursday.

The organisers have named the teams after eminent women’s namely Khushbakht Shujat, Tanzeela Cheema, Shehla Raza, Asma Shah, Mahiya Moin and Nusrat Hanif.

The league is being held to select players for raising two Karachi teams — Orange and Blues.

The KHA has recently formed its women’s wing aimed at reviving its activities and to bring them at par with men’s.
