LAHORE: Some 25 PML-N chairmen of district councils on Thursday expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying he will emerge ‘clean’ in the Panama Papers case.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club, the chairmen of the local government said they had gathered here to send a message that the PML-N leaders and workers were united and standing behind their leader.

They said the premier had steered the country out of crises and addressed the long-standing issue of loadshedding.

“We have gathered here to send a message that we are standing by our leader who is facing scores of challenges,” Narowal district council chairman Ahmad Iqbal said. Iqbal, who is son of federal minister Ahsan Iqbal, said a number of achievements were to the credit of the premier that included the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, overcoming energy crisis, curbing terrorism menace, restoration of peace in Karachi.

Mr Iqbal said whatever the decision of the Panama case the nation was standing by Nawaz Sharif.

Vehari ZC chairman Ghulam Mohyuddin said some foreign powers did not want to see Pakistan progressing. “They are against CPEC. The prime minister will complete his term and the PML-N will win the 2018 election,” he said.

Meanwhile, a PML-N Lahore women convention was held here on Thursday.

The participants expressed solidarity with the premier and his children and prayed for completion of his tenure.

CM: Shahbaz Sharif continues bashing Imran Khan during his meetings with various political figures calling on him from across the province.

Talking to MNAs Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Tahir Bashir and Muhammad Asghar, he said people did not want anarchy and chaos but development and prosperity.

At a time when the country was progressing, designs of political “jugglers” were not hidden from anyone, he said.

Referring to PTI, he alleged the elements showing the worst performance in their own province were doing politics of “deceit” and “baseless allegations.”
