The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday reported that 81 people, including children and women, were killed in rain-related accidents across the country during the last 22 days.

According to the report, a copy of which is available with DawnNews, 30 people lost their lives in Punjab, 12 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 23 in Balochistan, six each in Sindh and Federal Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata) and four in Islamabad.

Besides, 117 people were injured and 103 houses damaged during the ongoing monsoon season, read the report. According to the breakup of the statistics, 77 people were injured in Punjab, 14 in KP, 17 in Sindh, one in AJK and eight in Fata. Further, 12 houses were damaged in Punjab, 29 in KP, five in Sindh, 20 in Balochistan, 29 in AJK, two in Fata, five in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in Islamabad.

The authority also issued an alert, anticipating heavy rains in various areas of Balochistan and Dera Ghazi Khan in Punjab during the next 72 hours. The authority also directed the relevant stakeholders to monitor the situation closely and sensitise vulnerable communities to take precautionary measures.

The NDMA report shows that all rivers were flowing at normal levels; however, low to medium flooding is expected at Nullahs of the Chenab.
