KHUZDAR: Four people, among them two brothers, were killed and dozens of mud houses were destroyed in flash flood caused by heavy rains and thunderstorm in parts of Khuzdar district.

Heavy rains, which started on Saturday night, hit a vast area of the district.

Traffic between Quetta and Karachi, which had been suspended on Saturday night after the collapse of a bridge near the Wadh area, was restored on Sunday evening. However, heavy traffic was still off the road. Local administration restored traffic by making alternative arrangements for only small vehicles.

Reports reaching here suggested that traffic between Khuzdar and Shahdadkot and the Wango area continued to remain suspended as the road is still inundated.

The areas of Zehri, Baghbana, Wadh, Karkh, Nal and Ornach were also reported to be submerged.

“A large number of mud houses and cotton crop were washed away,” Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Sohailur Rehman said, adding that bodies of four people were recovered from the floodwater and handed over to heirs.
