KARACHI, Aug 10: Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkil Qazi has directed the DCOs of all the districts of Sindh to ensure that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is not used in motorcars and rickshaws as its use in motor-vehicles is prohibited under the Production and Distribution Rules 2001.

Through a letter, the CS has also asked the DCOs to further ensure that CNG conversion process is being undertaken only at the filling stations and workshops approved by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

He has reminded the DCOs that the use of the CNG and LPG was being regulated all over the country under the OGRA Ordinance 2002 in order to ensure security to the life and property of people.

Dr Mutawakkil asked the DCOs to take appropriate legal action against those carrying out conversion work without keeping the licence. He has sought a report in this regard by the end of this month.— PPI
