LAHORE: The opposition leader in Punjab Assembly and a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA have submitted separate resolutions against the federal ministers for criticising the joint investigation team and demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name should be put on exit control list (ECL).

In his resolution, Opposition Leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said the investigations into money laundering and tax evasion against Nawaz Sharif had entered the final phase and therefore his name should be put on ECL.

He stated that federal ministers Khwaja Asif, Khwaja Saad Rafique, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal addressed a press conference and [allegedly] used foul language against the JIT negating the constitutional role of the Supreme Court.

He said the ministers not only insulted the Supreme Court but also hurled threats at it indirectly.

He demanded that the Punjab Assembly, judiciary and JIT should take suo motu notice and act against the prime minister and ministers for contempt of court.

PTI MPA Nabila Hakim Ali said the attitude of Khwaja Saad Rafique, Khwaja Asif and Asif Kirmani against the JIT was condemnable. She demanded that the SC take suo motu [notice] against the federal ministers for trying to make the JIT controversial.
