KARACHI, Aug 9: The three-day international IT exhibition ‘ITCN-2003’ was formally inaugurated by Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at the Expo Centre on Saturday.

Provincial Minister for Information Technology Yakub Ilyas and a number of delegates from abroad were present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the exhibition, the governor went round various stalls. A total of 330 stalls have been set up at the exhibition, 148 of them by foreign companies.

Talking to delegates and investors on the occasion, Dr Ibad said that the government was taking best possible steps for the promotion of investment.

Besides ensuring the security of investment and an assured return, the government is maintaining the continuity of policies in this regard, he pointed out.

The governor said that foreign investors were showing practical interest to take advantage of the opportunities being provided. He said the objective of these endeavours was to bring about an improvement in the quality of life of common man and make every possible facility available to them.

He made it clear that investment and economic activities would help increase employment opportunities.

Dr Ibad said that investors were taking interest in the fields of water supply, sewerage treatment, solid waste management, transport, etc. He said this sort of investment would also help provide better facilities to people.
