SAHIWAL: Rescue 1122 on Wednesday found the body of a minor boy floating in the Pakapttan Canal.

District Emergency Officer Nasir Hasan said Rescue 1122 received a call from a passer-by and recovered the body.

The deceased was identified as 11-year-old Nadeem Ahmad, a resident of village 18/MR, Multan district. Nasir told Dawn that 67 people suffered injuries in 18 accidents during three Eid days.

He said 18 of them were provided with first aid on the spot while 49 were shifted to Pakpattan DHQ and Arifwala THQ hospitals.

He said among the injured 50 were men and 17 women and children.

SUICIDES: Two persons allegedly committed suicide here during Eid days.

In the first incident, youth Mahboob committed suicide by hanging from a tree in Mai Shah graveyard on Tuesday.

The cause of the suicide was said to be poverty and joblessness.

Ghala Mandi police have handed over the body to the heirs.

In the second incident, Nasir Ahmed jumped into the Lower Bari Doab Canal near village 63/5-L on Eid day after a quarrel with his parents.

His body was recovered from Rajbya, Naiwala Bangla, near 145/9-L.

SUSPENDED: District Police Officer Dr Atif Ikram on Wednesday suspended from service head reader Zulfiqar for allegedly receiving bribe.

A Harrapa police patrol impounded a motorbike without documents. The bike owner paid some amount to Zulfiqar and got the two-wheeler.

CONTRABAND: Harrapa police arrested a man identified as Husnain with 1,500 gram hash during a patrol at village 188/9-L. A case has been registered.
