PESHAWAR: The 64th birth anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was observed on Wednesday and on this occasion Pakistan Peoples Party leaders paid rich tribute to her for the sacrifices she had rendered for strengthening of democracy in the country.

In this regard, a function was held at the residence of PPP coordinator Sartaj Khan in Peshawar wherein provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan was the chief guest who cut the cake to celebrate the occasion. Gohar Inqilabi, Liaquat Shabab and many others also spoke on the occasion.

They said that the Bhutto family had offered matchless sacrifices for the country and the party workers were determined to accomplish the mission they had started for welfare of the poor people. They said that Ms Bhutto served the country with national zeal and had raised voice for the rights of downtrodden, peasants and voiceless masses.

Mr Humayun said that ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makan’ was not mere a slogan of PPP, but it always tried to materialise it for bringing a real change in the fate of people. He said that targeting Ms Bhutto was a conspiracy to deprive Pakistan of a sincere politician. He also recalled the campaigns led by late Benazir Bhutto against military dictators in order to restore democracy.

He said that the PPP workers were determined to fulfil the mission that was started by Ms Bhutto for the uplift of oppressed nation. He said the workers were united under the leadership of chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the party would soon regain its past position.

The PPP leader urged the party workers to step up efforts for strengthening of the party organisations in different areas to enable their candidates to succeed in the next general elections.

He claimed PPP was still the largest political party, but it was deprived of its victory in the last general elections. He said that this time no one would be able to snatch mandate of the party and it would form government in centre and all the provinces.
