MINGORA: Police have finalised a security plan to ensure peaceful celebration of Eidul Fitr and avoid any untoward incident in Swat.

A press release, issued by the district police office, said that the security plan was discussed and revived at a district level meeting of chaired by DPO Ijaz Khan.

It said that the DPO directed all the DSPs and SHOs to take stern action against the people involved in firing in the air.

“Firing in the air is banned and illegal therefore police must take strict legal action against those, who fire shots in the air on Chand Raat,” said the DPO. He added that no laxity would be tolerated in that regard.

The district police chief said that proper campaign should be launched against violators of law.

He asked the DSPs and SHOs to monitor their surroundings closely.

“A foolproof security plan has been devised for Mingora, Barikot, Khwazakhela, Matta and other busy towns of Swat to avoid any untoward incident,” said the DPO.

He added that people should cooperate with police.

The press release said that proper security arrangements would be made for sensitive areas, mosques and busy markets to monitor suspicious activities.

The leaves of police officials have been cancelled and security has been beefed up at all the routes to Mingora and other towns.

The DPO said that hotels and other rented buildings should be monitored closely so that terrorists could not make use of them. “All hotels must be checked properly and data of the guests and outsiders should be collected from the hotels,” he said.

The DPO said that action must be taken against the vehicles that didn’t have number plates.

He directed police to behave politely with general public and said that prizes and awards would be given to those policemen, who showed best performance.
