ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) will launch, this month, the Prime Minister’s National Health Programme (PMNHP) in Mardan district.

The programme will benefit around 33,000 families living below the poverty line of $2 per day, PMNHP Director Dr Faisal Rifaq told Dawn, adding that the staff had been hired and their training would complete soon.

“We have been trying to inaugurate the programme by next week but I can surely say that the programme will be launched during the current month,” he said.

NHS Minister Saira Afzal Tarar, while chairing a meeting on Tuesday, ordered early launch of the scheme in Mardan. She appreciated the State Life team for helping in implementation of the programme.

The minister was informed that the facilities for 300,000 families of Thatta, Sujawal, Hyderabad, and Kohat had been started from June 1. Furthermore, 140,000 families of Bajour and Khyber Agency have also been enrolled.
