Rumman Raees to replace injured Wahab Riaz in Champions Trophy

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 has approved Rumman Raees as a replacement player for Wahab Riaz in the Pakistan squad for the tournament, an ICC press release said on Tuesday.
After fast bowler Wahab was ruled out of the Champions Trophy following his foot injury, the left-arm pacer is being replaced by Rumman, who said his target is to restrict top batsmen during the tournament.
Wahab, who turned out to be the most expensive bowler in Pakistan's opening match of the tournament against India, will be returning home and will be replaced by Rumman, who made his international debut last year in a T20 match against West Indies.
Rumman last played for Pakistan in April this year against West Indies; he played only one match and took one wicket.
The pacer, like every other bowler, has the dream of taking wickets of top batsmen, prioritising three batsmen for the championship.
“I will be going out on a hunt for the wickets of the world’s top batsmen including AB de Villiers, who is the most dangerous batsman, and also Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni who are also among the best batmen of modern cricket,” the left-arm pacer said while speaking to DawnNews.
“I dream of taking their wickets and celebrating in my own style in front of them,” the 25-year-old said.
Wahab, who conceded 87 runs in 8.4 wicketless overs in the most expensive spell of five-plus overs in tournament history, hobbled off after twisting an ankle during Sunday's match.
Pakistan play South Africa in their next Group B match at the same venue on Wednesday.

Later we will find that it was Coach who has preferred Ruman Raees over Muhammad Abbas who was most successful bowler. During last 5 years coaches, captains, selection committees changed but no one dared to replace Hafeez, Ahmed Shahzad, Wahab Riaz. PCB is playing hell with Pakistan cricket.

Fahim Ashraf scored 64 not out(211% strike rate) in warm up match. Why can't team management include in final 11. He is fearless and hard hitter better than imad, hadeez and shoaib.

Pakistan should have the guts to do what England did after the last World Cup and see where they are now.
They need to bring in big hitting batsmen like Ahmed Mukhtar, Sharjeel (after he is cleared as PCB has no case against him) Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Safaraz, Faheem Ashraf, Imad Wasim, Shadab, Mohd Aamir, Hasan Ali.

For the match against S Africa , please select wisely, please play BOTH Shadab (one of the 2 effective bowlers in the match against India) And FAheem. He adds power batting

Why are you even talking to the media about celebrating the wickets of top batsmen you haven't taken yet? The only person who should be speaking is the captain. You don't see many players apart from captains from other countries having a yarn. Their actions on the ground do the talking.

@JEY South Indian - I am a Pakistani and I agree with Jey. This chap along with others in green must learn the art of conversation with ball and bat along with their fielding skills. A guy who is has failed to establish itself and speak of volume as if he Alexander The Great. Even if you are asked as a question who you wish to target the reply should be modest and show humbleness. Why can't they simply reply, "I would rather be a professional against who ever I play and learn few traits from this international exposure."
Indians have their arrogance but this is a duly deserved one as they have made their mark but we must also see the humbleness of their character on and off the field.
Ruman if you have no role model to adopt for humbleness kindly study Tendulkar or Younis. A good thing shall always be good regardless from where or whom you have learned from. Kindly keep your feet at ground as you will be needing them even for a giant leap.

Get rid if Hafeez, Azhar and other batsmen who have a SR of 75 or so. Need ODI players with a SR of greater than 100. Draft young legs.

@Umar Khalil: This gentle medium paced bowled better than most pace bowlers in PSL and has very good recent domestic record, better than most Pakistani fast bowlers who are part of team, rather, those who may be selected as replacement (like Sohail Khan or even Junaid Khan).

Our captain looked like a high school kid in the field against India -- we are young and naive. Good we are playing some world class teams - India and West Indies. You only play good teams to find out how bad you are, we found out against India and tomorrow we will find out against West Indies. Tomorrow we are packing and coming back home. Rumman Raees is only a medium pacer, but a very wily bowler with excellent variations. He will be better choice for Pakistan bowling attack in this high scoring tournament than under-performing Wahab Riaz.

Replacing 11 players and coach won't help as you need to to replace your domestic structure and need to work on grass root level. this is how India has become the top side in the world where legends like Rahul Dravid work on the grass root level and nuture the under 19 talent by sitting hours on small grounds with bare mimimum facilites at small towns in India. Its not that we become the top side in the world overnight. India was no match to Paksitan team some 10-15 yrs back and with the win loss 70-51 in favour of pakistan but we had started working on our domestic cricket years back and now we the top side in the world. This is the biggest problem of pak cricket. We as an indian feel really bad when you lose to us without giving a fight. We want you give us some fight and would happy to lose to you if you play good cricket as wining and losing is part of the game. Love from India.:)
