ABOUT a year ago, I installed a PTCL’s DSL service through telephone number 5602542. I did not receive the bill for the next months and was unable to download the bill from the Internet as I did not have my customer ID for the newly-installed connection. Consequently, my connection was cut off owing to overdue payment.
When I rang up the local PTCL office and gave them my particulars, I was astonished to know that the same number has been installed in the name of someone else. The address that they provided was also not mine.
I informed them that the same number had been in my use for the past few months. I then visited the PTCL office and got my erroneous bill for Rs9,510. I told them that I had used the DSL for only a few months. They realised the mistake and told me to deposit only Rs7,000 as the connection will be restored and the remaining amount would be deducted. They also assured me that the number in my use would be transferred to my name soon.
After about a month, I was surprised to know that neither did they transfer the number to my name nor did they deduct the incorrect amount from the bill. I also suspect that some other PTCL number has been installed to someone else in my name.
The PTCL authorities should transfer my number to my name and provide me a correct bill.
