KARACHI: Race goers suffered heavily as outsiders swept a five-race card in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Dark bay horse Lovely Baby with no form worth surprised all and sundry while lifting The Summer Cup lowering the colours of favourite mare Sea Gold winning hands down by eight lengths.

Fast Departure was placed third 10 lengths away while Sonia Again completed the frame further beaten by distance.

Promising rider Mohammad Qais stole the day’s limelight by piloting home a brace of winners.

First, he galloped second favourite mare Loot Lo to five lengths victory over fancied Satisfy while in the next race he powered Fantastic Game to success edging favourite Luck pass by neck at the winning post.

At the outset, mare Charlotte annexed the opener by getting the better of favourite Happiness by half-a-length while Black Tiger overcome Race by a length to claim the second race.

Meanwhile, the next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Saturday (June 3) instead of Sunday to avoid clash with the Pakistan-India cricket encounter in the ICC Champions Trophy in England.
