KARACHI: The R5 Foundation, a charity arm of R5 Aesthetics and Healthcare Clinic, was launched on Thursday at a well-attended gathering at a local restaurant.

The foundation will assist acid burn victims and use the foundation’s resources to address the plight of the elderly who are not getting the care they deserve to have a good quality of life.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shakaib Qureshi, the chief executive officer of the R5 clinic, said that their work in harnessing stem cells to attack aging had led to advances in dealing with knee pain without surgery.

“However, R5 wanted to ensure that not only the rich but people who are suffering from decreased mobility due to age and cannot afford treatment should also benefit from this particular procedure and other solutions in regenerative surgery.

“And, from now on, this will not be a rich man’s club and our services will be available to as many people the foundation can assist,” he explained.

The R5 clinic used its own innovative technology to repair, restore, replenish, regenerate and rejuvenate the skin, body and joints, he added.

Marita Eisenmann-Klein, who has remained president and secretary general of the International Confederation of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and also director of the Clinic for Plastic and Aesthetic Hand and Reconstructive Surgery at the Isar Medical Centre in Munich, spoke about how R5 was attempting to implement international standards in Pakistan in the field of plastic surgery and regenerative procedures to defeat age.
