KARACHI: Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said that the economic progress of Pakistan was linked to peace in Karachi because the city contributed largest share of the country’s revenue.

He was talking to Mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar who called on him at the Governor’s House here on Friday.

The governor said the federal government was committed to restoring complete peace in the country’s largest city. For giving a boost to Karachi’s trade and business activities, it is necessary to improve the law and order situation in the city. Karachi was the economic hub of the country and without improving the city’s business environment revival of the national economy was not possible, he added. He said soon after coming into power the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken initiatives for improving the security situation of Karachi. He said the Karachi operation was launched after taking all stakeholders in the city into confidence.

He said peace was returning to the city and with it there was remarkable improvement in the city’s business environment.

He said the federal government was taking special interest in the city’s infrastructure development.
