KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in Korangi on Friday, police said.

They said that Ashraf George, 40, was allegedly killed by his brother, Mushtaq Masih, in their Al-Noor Society home over a petty dispute.

The police said that the two brothers exchanged hot words when Ashraf tried to fix a nail on their common wall. As the argument heated up, Mushtaq fired at his brother and fled.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

The victim’s wife narrated the whole incident to police, who finally managed to arrest the suspect and recovered a 9mm pistol, the murder weapon, from him.

A case (FIR 209) was registered against him under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased’s wife.

Robbers open fire on picnickers’ bus

A man was wounded when unknown robbers fired at a coaster he was travelling in, in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Friday evening, police said.

The area SHO said that a family was returning to the city from a picnic in a coaster. When they reached Ahsanabad, robbers tried to stop the vehicle. However, the driver did not stop and the bandits opened fire and fled. One of the bullets, he said, hit Iftikhar in the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Sindh home minister took notice of the incident and sought a report.
