KARACHI Aug 3: Sindh police has decided to install concealed cameras in different areas to detect crimes and trace traffic violators.

A decision to this effect was finalized by high officials of police in pursuance of the IGP directives, which would be implemented in the next few days.

Initially, concealed cameras would be installed at 10 places and roundabouts of the city, including PIDC, Hotel Metropole, Hotel Mezan, Hotel Regent Plaza, Hoshang and Fawara Chowk, Star Gate and Shah Faisal Colony Gate.

The cameras being installed, numbered two at each place and moving with an angle of 360 degrees, would record all activities taking place at the specific area.

They would also help tracing number of passing vehicles and persons travelling inside them.

In order to monitor the recordings of these cameras, plans are under review to establish central monitoring centre. Any decision in this regard would be given final shape only after consultation and discussion with local and foreign experts.—PPI
