KOHAT / KARACHI: Six policemen were martyred and another was injured in gun attacks in Kohat and Karachi on Saturday night.

In the War Shand area of Kohat district, a police vehicle was ambushed, leaving four personnel martyred.

Kohat DPO Javed Iqbal identified the personnel as Khanullah, the SHO of the Lachi police station, additional SHO Tahir Mehmood, head constable Tanveer Hussain and constable Abid.

He said police party was not on any raid mission and firing was sudden, suggesting it was a pre-planned attack.

In Karachi, the policemen were sitting in their stationary police van near Daud More when they were fired upon, said Gulshan SP Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto.

Two policemen — ASI Iftikhar and head constable Raja Younus — were martyred. Head constable Shehbaz was admitted to hospital, said the spokesperson.
