KARACHI, Aug 3: Sindh local bodies minister Mohammad Hussain has directed the Nazims and Naib Nazims to provide basic facilities to the rain-affected people in their respective areas so that the situation arisen after recent heavy rainfalls can be improved.

He said this during his visit to Lyari town on Sunday, where the area people lodged a number of complaints with him, particularly about choking of sewerage lines and power supply suspension.

Nazim and Naib Naizm of the town, Nazims of union councils and officers of the KESC and KWSB were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, he directed the town municipal officer of Lyari town to form teams to repair the choked sewerage. He said the teams should monitor the performance of the KESC and KWSB and should submit reports about the same.

He directed the water board chief engineer Asoo Domil to set up camp on emergency basis and arrange for the drainage of stagnant water within two days. He said he would himself visit the camp and monitor the work.

Later, the minister visited different areas of Surjani Town, including Khuda Ki Basti, where several houses had been affected due to overflowing of a drain. He asked the Gadap TMO to prepare an index of the affected houses so that rehabilitation of the people could be carried out without any delay.
