THIS refers to Syed Riaz’s letter ‘Dawn story’ (May 7). Whatever be the state of affairs in the civilian and political sectors, the armed forces stand as the most professional and disciplined institution and serve as the last hope for the integrity and freedom of our motherland.

For heavens’ sake, let this sacred institution not follow the norms of indiscipline and waywardness like the rest of the institutions.

Irrespective of how the other functionaries of the government are flouting the law and the constitution, the armed forces are expected to display complete obedience to higher organisations and resolve any difference of opinion through consultation and discussion, which has finally been done.

All this hullabaloo was created because of a hasty and poorly-drafted tweet by the ISPR. I feel nobody is above the law and the ISPR must be held accountable for this faux pas.
