CHAKWAL: A man and a woman were killed in Chakwal on Saturday in separate incidents.

Ali Adnan, 27, was found dead in his room in the Gurha Rajgan Village, located in the jurisdiction of Police Station Choa Saidan Shah.

According to the police and the victim’s father, Ali Adnan’s room was built a few yards away from the rest of the house. The census team knocked on Ali Adnan’s room when they came and told his family they had not gotten a response. The family had then opened the door and saw that he was dead.

“An unknown assailant fired at him from the window,” said Investigating Officer Imtiyaz Ahmed Butt, adding that the victim’s father had not mentioned anyone in the FIR.

“This is a blind murder but we will solve it soon,” he said.

In a separate incident, a husband accidently shot his wife in the Gattal Village, located in the jurisdiction of the Lawa Police Station.

The couple and their children were getting ready for an event in another village and the husband had tried to keep his 12-bore rifle in a safer place.

“As he picked the gun up, it went off because it was already loaded. The bullet hit his 35-year-old wife, who died on the spot,” Investigating Officer Mansoor Mazhar told Dawn.

He added that murder could not be ruled out.

“We have registered a murder case and are investigating into the incident. The husband did not run and presented himself for investigation,” he said.
