ABBOTTABAD: Tehreek-i-Sooba Hazara chief Baba Haider Zaman on Thursday reiterated the threat to block the visit of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan to Abbottabad on May 14.

Mr Zaman told reporters at the Abbottabad Press Club here that there would be a complete shutter down strike in Abbottabad city on coming Sunday, while the entry to the city would be blocked at Fawara Chowk.

He also said the TSH workers would also block the Karakoram Highway.

“Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will not be allowed to enter the city to address a public meeting,” he said.

The TSH chief said his party would meet on May 14 to discuss response to the possibility of Imran Khan coming to the city by helicopter.

He said the government had yet to keep the promise of acting against those involved in the April 2010 police violence against peaceful protesters in Abbottabad, paying compensation to the violence victims, and making serious efforts for the creation for a separate Hazara province.

Mr Zaman said the TSH had ended the April 12 sit-in at Fawara Chowk after the government promised him swift action on its demands but the assurance had yet to be met.

He said Imran Khan had announced during the 2013 elections that his party would strive for turning Hazara into a province after coming to power, but the PTI government had yet to take necessary serious action on the announcement.

The TSH chief also said he would work for the resolution of the issues of Sukki Kinari dam and displacement of Galiyat people over alleged encroachments.

He claimed that the PTI government’s claims on good governance and elimination of corruption and nepotism were false.

Mr Zaman also demanded Fata, Seraiki, Karachi and other regions be made provinces.

TSH general secretary Sardar Fida Hussain also spoke on the occasion.
