The Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday cautioned Tehran that a warning issued by the Iranian army chief a day earlier was against the "spirit of brotherly relations" between Pakistan and Iran.

The FO summoned Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost to convey Pakistan's concerns regarding a warning issued by Maj Gen Mohammad Baqeri that Tehran would hit 'militant safe havens' inside Pakistan if the government did not confront militants who carried out cross-border attacks last month.
"We expect Pakistani officials to control the borders, arrest the terrorists and shut down their bases," Baqeri had said on Monday. "If the terrorist attacks continue, we will hit their safe havens and cells, wherever they are," he added.
During his meeting with the ambassador, FO Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria, highlighting an improvement in bilateral relations between the two countries, urged Iran to refrain from making statements that would harm relations, according to the statement.
Zakaria said an agreement had already been reached to "enhance cooperation on border issues" during the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on May 3.
Zarif in his visit had asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to improve border security, and Pakistan had assured Iran it would deploy additional troops along its border.

Rather than finding faults with what India and now Iran is stating, it may be better to check if there's indeed an issue with cross border terrorism from safe havens within Pakistan. If yes, need to get rid of that to each other's satisfaction. Common citizens of all countries involved want to be rid of terrorism.

Pakistani Passport ranks 197 out 199 countries - just ahead of Afghanistan and Somalia, where you will be welcomed.
At least Iranians are far better educated, resourceful and smarter than Pakistanis.

Could our FO question Iran for Kalbushan Yadev, Uzair Baloch? those terrorist were trained and provided save heaven in Iran. Why can't we raise our concern to them about RAW cells in Iran???? Why our memories are so short that our leadership's foreign policy is like a ship without captain.During the war with India in 1965 it was Iran and not Saudi Arabia which provided real and meaningful support.Why Pakistan has failed to prevent that its soil is not used by Arab funded terrorists.What brotherly love after thugs killed their soldiers.Pakistan is totally standing alone in and neighbors hate us because we put all our eggs in one unreliable ally's basket in Riyadh .Our FO and its policies are a disaster.

Iran's retaliation has two reasons, Pakistan's support for Saudi Arabia including employment of Rahil Sharif & Indian influence via military pact between the two countries. Pakisatn could have sorted this out if we had copetent foreign office and our PM were not a die hard Saudi supporter. There is no such thing as brotherly country. Self interest rules the ground reality.Iran has guarded our borders for seventy years and we could have maintained the relationship if we were not in Saudi pockets.

Don't confuse Iran with India. The eventual aim of all Indian blames is Pakistan Army, on the other hand, Iran has never suggested or even insinuated any collusion between Pakistan Army and the terrorists. Iran's frustration is directed more at the civilian government.

Is it any wonder why most people prefer to emigrate to the West and settle with their families in Europe, Canada, US or Austriala? Even refugees from the Middle East and Africa are all heading to the West. Wonder why?
If Saudis are your brothers, than who are Iraqis, Syrians and Yemenis to them, or to you??

Sir, We should stop using these words as brotherly or all weather or Umah etc. In the political world countries are neither friends nor eternal enemies. Our foreign policy is stuck in cold war era and India centric(anti). Our democratic records are too weak and dictators after dictators weakened the democratic structure. Our institutions are in miserable state. Hate India have reduced us to this stage. Even Islamic principles also ask to love every one and learn from others which we have forgotten in due time..

@Asif jamil Despite the pressure from Arab League, Pakistan helped Iran throughout its war with Iraq, Pakistan also helped them build their Aaarmed forces which were in shackles after the Islamic Revolution. Pakistan might be a poor country but we have the always been loyal and stood for our friendly countries.
