LAHORE: Kids section remained the focus of attention of people of all ages at the annual Community Health Fair 2017 of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Medical and Dental College at Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex (SZMC) here on Sunday.

The children would first pull the accompanying elders to the jumping castle, face painting, colouring and drawing and storey-telling stalls before learning hand washing techniques, general cleanliness guidelines, healthy eating habits through games, skits and fun learning methodology.

There were also stalls for elders offering free general medical examination, body mass index and screening of uric acid, hepatitis, blood sugar level, bone mass density and blood pressure.

Senior doctors and medical students provided information to the visitors about cardiovascular system, pulmonology, rheumatology, nutrition, oral hygiene, nephrology, maternal and infant health, immunisation, dermatology, communicable and non-communicable diseases.

After formally inaugurating the day-long fair, SZMC Dean and Chairman Prof Dr Farid Ahmad Khan said such events bring students and members of the community together to share ideas, think outside the daily routine of textbook learning and come to realise that the ideas garnered from a moment’s reflection could, if carried through, make their mark in contributing to a healthier, safer future for the country.
