LAHORE: Yet another date has been given for the 33rd National Games which would now be staged in Quetta from Oct 7 to 14.

Surprisingly, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has also deferred its programme of holding the second Quaid-i-Azam Inter-provincial Games from May 5 to October on Friday, due to the suspension of PSB director general Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera.

“A high-powered committee comprising retired Lt Gen Syed Arif Hasan, president of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqub, POA vice-president and Mohammad Khalid Mahmood, POA secretary general, met Sardar Fateh Mohammad Hassani, Minister for Sports, Government of Balochistan, Asmatullah Kakar, Secretary Sports, Government of Balochistan and Munawar Hussain, Director Sports Board Balochistan on April 28, 2017 at Serena Hotel, Quetta to discuss the schedule and arrangements for the forthcoming 33rd National Games, Quetta,” a press release issued by the POA said here on Friday.

“The 33rd National Games will be held from Oct 7 to 14, 2017 in Quetta. Provincial sports associations (Balochistan) of national sports federations recognised by the international federations concerned and POA will only be the legitimate representatives for the Games,” the press release added.
