LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has recovered Rs6m from 11 suspects in an embezzlement case of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) kiosks in Lahore.

NAB Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem handed over a cheque for Rs6m to Nadra Director (Lahore region) retired Col Noman Ahmed Sehgal here on Thursday.

Nadra had approached NAB about embezzlement in e-billing at eight kiosks in Lahore.

During investigation, it was disclosed that the owners of kiosks used to invest public money deposited with them (centres) in their personal businesses.

NAB had arrested all the suspects – Hafiz Muhammad Mashood, retired Col Ahmed Qamar, Mubashir Hussain, Mudassar Nazir, Mian Muhammad Younis, M Nazir Bazmi, Muhammad Saleem, Mehmood Hassan, M Ameer Ahmed Malik, Zahid Pervez and Sumera Zahid Pervaiz – last year who opted for voluntarily return.

“The recovery of Rs10m from the suspects is underway,” NAB said in a statement.
