PESHAWAR: Seven suspected militants, including two leaders of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, were killed in a US drone strike at a compound in North Waziristan Agency on Thursday.

Sources said that two missiles were fired at the compound in the Lawara Mandi area near the Afghan border at about 12.30pm. Two of the dead militants were identified as Abdur Rehman Sidgai and Akhtar Mohammad.

However, political administration officials insisted that the attack took place in the Gorwek area across the border in Afghanistan.

AFP adds: Local intelligence officials said drones were seen in the area before two missiles hit a house in the Lawara Mandi area, believed to be used by the TTP.

“We have received reports of a drone attack in North Waziristan in which some seven militants have been killed,” a security official told AFP.

If confirmed the attack would be the second drone raid under the administration of President Donald Trump.
