KOHAT: A disgruntled group of Pakistan Peoples Party here has appealed to the party’s provincial president, Humayun Khan, to dissolve the district cabinet and reorganise a new one with its consultation.

In this regard, a meeting was held in Ustarzai at the hujra of district councillor Mahtabul Hassan on Tuesday. It was attended by party’s former divisional secretary general Fareed advocate, former district secretary general Aman advocate, incumbent joint secretary Khaksar Ali and a number of angry activists.

Mr Hassan and Mr Fareed said on this occasion that some elements were out to damage the party’s reputation by neglecting the old guards. They asked the provincial president to cancel the notification of the new cabinet and form a new one, including them. They said that this was the only way to keep PPP alive in the district.

They said that representation should be given to members from all parts of the district in the cabinet.

ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: Deputy commissioner Akmal Khan has said that parents refusing to give polio drops to their children would be dealt with sternly.

Chairing a meeting of anti-polio committee here, he said that the campaign was a national cause on which no compromise could be made.

It was attended by national stop officer, district health officer, assistant commissioner and other stakeholders.

The DC asked them to involve NGOs in the awareness campaign for saving children from the crippling disease.

He said that the tehsil municipal administrations should also fulfil their responsibilities because the disease was water borne. The TMAs should immediately repair defective water supply lines.
