IT gender gap

Published April 26, 2017

IT is real and it is here! I am an IT student, and this recently came to my attention that girls are deprived of their right to get equal opportunities in computer science.

It’s like girls are always the second choice when it comes to IT work. We get equal grades, equal skills but still we are mocked by men in our field to get the work done. The partiality is not only restricted to our colleagues but some time our mentors also join in and crack an awkward joke. For men computer science is the new form of manhood.

What is sad about this is that we are not alone in this, women all over the world face this. The least we can do to change this is push our girls to get computer education and work in this manly profession to prove the point.
