PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Deputy Speaker Mehar Taj Roghani has convened the session of the assembly today (Tuesday) to discuss the scenario emerging from the Supreme Court verdict in the Panamagate scandal.

The other agenda item is to discuss, and possibly pass, a resolution demanding of the prime minister to resign as two senior judges of the apex court had declared him disqualified.

The resolution was submitted by deputy parliamentary leader of PTI Shaukat Yousafzai to the assembly secretariat on Monday.

The resolution demands resignation of the prime minister as he has no moral justification to stay on as the chief executive of the country after the SC verdict in the Panama Papers case.

Talking to mediapersons after submitting his resolution, Mr Yousafzai said the country now stood at a turning point. “Now everyone will face accountability, including PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari,” he said.

It is to mention here that the last session of the assembly began on April 14, which was adjourned by the chair until May 2. However, the deputy speaker in the absence of the Speaker Asad Qaiser convened the session on Tuesday (April 25) to pass the resolution against the prime minister.

Similarly, the MPAs of PML-N have also devised a strategy to counter the criticism of the PTI against the prime minister. In this connection, PML-N parliamentary leader Aurangzaib Nalotha has also submitted two resolutions each against speaker Asad Qaiser and provincial finance minister Muzafar Said.

Mr Nalotha in his resolutions demanded of the speaker and finance minister to resign as they were facing serious allegations by different quarters.
