ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) announced a seven-member team here on Friday to participate in the Asian Boxing Championship, scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan from April 30 to May 7.

Selected boxers are undergoing training at the Amir Khan Boxing Academy here under the supervision of Arshad Hussain and Syed Hassan.

PBF secretary general Lt Col Nasir Ijaz Tung said, “All players are working hard and we are optimistic about achieving good results.”

He said the event would be a good chance for his boxers to get into shape ahead of the Islamic Solidarity Games, slated to be held in Baku from May 12 to 22.

“The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is helping the PBF to ensure its participation at the Asian Boxing Championship,” said Azam Dar, director national federations of the PSB.

Boxers:Mohibullah (49kg), Syed M. Asif (52kg), Sulman Baloch (64kg), Gul Zaib (69kg), Tanveer Ahmed (75kg), Awais Ali Khan (81kg) and Sanaullah (91kg).
