THIS is apropos the article ‘From Bhutto to Zardari’ (April 5). I have always admired the author for his incisive reporting.

His work carries both, credibility and quality. However, I feel that he was a bit harsh with some of the PPP leaders in his article and raised objections for which perhaps he did not possess the correct facts.

The writer does not approve of a gold crown being presented to MPA Sharjeel Memon at a felicitations ceremony organised by his constituents. The gold crown was presented to acknowledge his services to his constituency. Mr Memon accepted the crown on the sole condition that it would be handed over to charity immediately after the function. This was done and the actual crown was handed over to Mr Ramzan Chhipa, the founder of Chhipa Welfare Association. The writer is free to contact the philantropist to ascertain these facts.

The writer has also taken exception to Mr Sharjeel Memon being granted bail by the honourable Sindh High Court in cases that he returned home voluntarily to face. Mr Memon was granted reprieve by the court after it was satisfied that there were grounds to provide relief. Mind you the honourable high court has many a times asked the provincial government to review and revisit its earlier decisions.
