Carbon mono oxide poisoning is one of the worst type of poisoning. This gas is created by heaters , instant geysers no matter gas or electric which slowly consumes all oxygen and replaces it with this lethal gas. Awareness must be created as reaction time in this case is very limited. Almighty bless the departed souls

Everyone should be very careful when installing gas or electric equipment at their houses. Proper Company or technician be used for that.

@salar As much as I hate both federal and state governmen, I believe responsibility with person who installed electric generator without proper ventilation or manufacturer/dealer if installation manual and safety warning were not provided . This matter should be investigated by relevant authorities and party at fault should be prosecuted under relevant law.

@salar Please aware yourself why we always pin blame to someone else other why can not we use the things in proper way. UPS and generators are designed to be used during outage this is their sole purpose. Why we can not follow the instructions which very clearly say that never use in confined places? Why we always come up with this explanation kuch nhen hota..... We are using electricity in our houses without earth wire to protect us from shock under the same kuch nhen hota mentality.

Need stronger and stricter inspections standards. Too many lives lost needlessly due to silliness like this!

When combustion takes place in an enclosed area, where there is limited supply of fresh air, carbon mono-oxide is formed (one carbon+one oxygen atom). This gas act like a magnet, seeking another oxygen atom, so it can convert to carbon dioxide (one carbon+two oxygen atoms). When a person inhales carbon mono-oxide, it absorbes oxygen from the blood stream to form CO2. So instead of providing, oxygen, it actually robs it from the victim. A sign of carbon mono-oxide poisoning, is that it turn the victims skin blue, (lack of oxygen in the body). Gasoline, kerosene, natural gas, wood, coal, nothing should be burned indoors, unless there is a system in place for the proper ventilation. While the gas takes it toll on the victim, he or she will not wake up because the lack of oxygen put the person into a deeper sleep. I feel sorry for the victims and their families.

@asgher Respected sir if Oxygen us abundant and combustion is efficient then any sort of fuel when burnt is converted to CO2 it does not matter if it is LNG petrol or anything which is harmless that is why it is always advised never use at confined places but when the supply of Oxygen dwindles making combustion inefficient resulting in generation of CO which is all lethal so action is two way Oxygen is consumed during the combustion which accelerates the production of CO making reaction time more short.

Some of the killing side effects of " jugaroo" culture. Try make people fasten seat belts and see how they make fun of you. Unless we change this behavour of being brave on foolish grounds, precious lives will be lost. Govt. authoroties must have the skills to make sure people live safely.

Pathetically poor had no room to sleep so the saloon was their work place as well as sleeping place for the three and therefore they died together. Salon owner must be some rich enough to just get t hushed up so that tomorrow and afterwards nine knows about it. @Syed Rafiq : while the explanation of carbon monoxide poisoning is wrong, the general principle is right. i.e. keep these things out of the confines of our rooms and be kept outdoors. Feel really sad for the departed souls. May we all get the urge to obtain knowledge for the good of ourselves and the society in general.

@salar .... Yours seems to be the most worthy comment. Not just electricity, the list goes on and on. Look at public transport, people hang on the doors, sit on the top of buses, motorcycles and rickshaws are extended to carry oven a dozen people, they use all sorts of dangerous cylinders that keep exploding. People are forced to use such dangerous transport because " government is NOT providing safe and sober means". Look at drinking water, full of filth and. People are having all sorts of diseases (Hepatitis in particular) due to contaminated water. Look at the state of public (govt.) schools and hospitals.

What a great tragedy? It seems there was no air ventilation system installed inside the so-called men's saloon.

May their souls rest in peace! Saloon owner should be punished as it's not legal to let/make anybody sleep inside a shop when its closed! Why ain't anybody saying this..

About time Pakistan start introducing some fire prevention regulations. Ask and force people to install fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms for their safety.

@asgher and generator doesnt produce carbon monoxide? or even a gas leakage? both are similar safety related issues. Gas is serious business, but Pakistan allow everyone to install appliances, specially the rubber pipe for gas are dangerous to use. It should never be used only fixed pipes properly plumbed and tested.

@saeed Government enforce law to minimize loss of life, state can not function if you leave everything to people. It has to enforce some laws around it.

I believe that the power crises is artificially created and maintained by some powerful lobby in this country.

If there were proper checks and balances in the country then we would not have these sub standard low quality cylinders in the first place and if found the companies would be punished.

Small, cheap and easy to instal devices can avoid this type of incidents. Public needs to be encouraged to instal smoke and carbon mono oxide detectors in thier living places.

People who can't add 2+2 are undertaking complex task of converting petrol fired generators into gas fired ones. To hell with safety aspect of the end product! A little saving seems to be more important than the disastrous consequences that could follow. Lots of "neem hakims" about and the authorities do not think it is their responsibility to weed them out. Very poor management of government. Idiots rule the wave.

Generator selling shops must beware the purchaser about hazards of generators if used in rooms or closed places.Under no circumstances generators be on in room,or covered locations.Generators must be kept out of premises open to sky.Often in crowded markets Generators are used,such practices must also be avoided.And last but not least, always off the main electric switch while using Generators, and when load shedding ends,first off the generator, pull out its connection from switch,then turn on the power.
