KARACHI, July 28: The City Government, Lyari Town Administration and the National Highway Authority (NHA) on Monday began draining out rain water from Mauripur road apart from cleaning storm water drains passing through Lyari.

The construction of the Northern Bypass has affected the disposal of rain water from certain areas of Lyari town as a result of which water is still seen accumulated on roads.

In order to initiate immediate steps, the DCO Karachi Mir Hussain Ali held a meeting which was attended by Project Director NHA, Town Nazim Abdul Khaliq Jumma, TMO and officers concerned of the city government.

In the meeting it was decided that during the construction phase of the Northern Bypass, care would be taken to keep the storm water drains passing from Lyari town unaffected and to find a permanent solution to the problem.—APP
