KARACHI: Promising One Unit Club fought back into the game in post interval period to register a magnificent 55-38 victory over Haleem Hot Boys Club in the Pakistan Day basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Wednesday evening.

The winners trailed 16-26 at half time and the triumph helped them to complete their league engagements on the winning note. After losing the opening two games to Askari Alphas and Nishtar Club respectively, they managed to make amends by winning the remaining three matches.

After conceding the first quarter 8-18, they held the opponents to eight-all in the second quarter. There was no stopping for them as they outclassed the opponents 16-10 and 23-2 in the following two quarters.

Tashfeen top scored for the winners with 16 and was assisted by Danish Baig 13 and Talal Ahmed eight.

Sammi’s 18 for the losers went in vain. Adnan was other notable scorer with 10.

In another match, formidable Nishtar Club outplayed Malir Trojans Club 59-39 to stretch their winning run.

Talha Amjad made good use of his abilities scoring 32, more then half of the team’s total. Ali Chanzeb was the other scorer who finished in double figures with 10 while Saifullah was equally good with nine.

Ali Raza and Adnan contributed eight and six respectively for the losers.

Meanwhile, the six-team league concludes on Friday and the top two teams on points will clash in the final after a day’s rest on Sunday.
