GWADAR: Security forces foiled an attempt to attack census enumerators and security personnel escorting them by defusing a roadside bomb near Turbat in Kech district on Sunday.

A census team spotted the improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the road leading to Dasht and called out the bomb disposal squad. Bomb experts rushed to the site and defused the IED.

A security official said that it was a remote control device planted by militants in a bid to attack security personnel and civilian staff conducting census in the area.

Security was beefed up in the area and a search operation was launched to trace the militants involved in planting the IED.
