HYDERABAD: Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the Supreme Court has said that it’s Allah Almighty who dispenses justice and he, as a judge, only passes orders in cases.

“A judge may not be brave but he has to be God-fearing,” he said while addressing members of the Jamshoro District Bar Association at a farewell luncheon hosted in his honour here on Saturday.

Justice Hani said that he wished he emerged successful on the Day of Judgement because of any single order passed by him as a judge.

He acknowledged that the former SC chief justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali had given him a free hand and all bars of the country extended due support to him. He said he also wished that God chose him for any other noble service after his retirement.

Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh, speaking as the guest of honour, told the audience that he never saw a sign of tiredness on Justice Hani’s face. “He is a judge who believe that judges are not bureaucrats and, therefore, they should perform their duties as worship,” said CJ Shaikh.

He observed that Justice Hani always passed verdicts without caring for who would get pleased or who would get annoyed.

Jamshoro DBA president Hyder Ali Unnar and general secretary Raja Jawad also spoke.

A number of SC and SHC judges including Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, besides former CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali, attended the programme.
