SPSC exams

Published March 21, 2017

APROPOS your report, ‘Appoint new Public Service Commission head, SC tells Sindh’ (Dec 14). The Supreme Court’s decision is welcomed as it will ensure merit in the future.

In Sindh, the SPSC is supposedly the only body for recruiting civil servants. However, in the last four years it has distorted the rules. Thus examination results have become dubious.

The Supreme Court has rather decried illegalities in the CCE 2013 examinations and held the chairman and five other members responsible for this. Therefore, the results were declared null and void when many absurdities like clerical errors etc were found.

For transparency of the commission, the SPSC needs to be run independently, without any political influence. Also, it must conduct re-examinations at once and accelerate the recruitment process. Moreover, it has to line up with the other public service commissions like the FPSC and the PPSC. Hopefully, it would promote merit.
