KARACHI, July 25: Commuters of a green bus, plying on Safoora Goth-Tower route, on Friday were shocked when some armed men in civilian clothes forced it to stop and dragged away a passenger at gun point.

The incident happened shortly after the bus had taken a turn from Jauhar More onto Rashid Minhas Road around 12.10 pm.

The bus suddenly stopped near Lasania. The gate was opened and some individuals carrying automatic weapons, including TT and assault rifle, barged into the bus, quickly moving towards the back seat, by pushing the standing passengers.

They pounced on a passenger on the rear seat and took him away, hurling abuses, as the harassed man kept on asking why he was being taken at gun point.

As soon as they got down, after their swift operation, the harassed passengers heaved a sigh of relief but their anxiety was not over.

One of the passengers got furious at the conductor asking him why did he open the door without asking the gunmen to prove their identity.

One passenger thought the bus was being hijacked.
