COAS, Qatari minister discuss defence cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is on an official visit to Qatar, on Monday called on Qatar’s Minister of Defence Affairs Dr Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Attiyah.

Matters of regional security and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed, says a press release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The minister appreciated professional standing and performance of the Pakistan Army and expressed desire for increased Pakistan-Qatar defence collaboration.

Gen Bajwa also met Lt Gen (pilot) Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces.

Lt Gen Ghanim acknowledged Pakistan Army’s contribution to regional peace and stability through its fight against terrorism and militancy.

The COAS thanked both the dignitaries for their expressions.

He said the Pakistan Army greatly valued its defence cooperation and collaboration with Qatar.

Responding to desire of increasing Pakistan-Qatar defence cooperation, the COAS said that the proposed enhancement would have positive impact both on bilateral relationship as well as regional security.

Qatari "..expressed desire for increased Pakistan-Qatar defence collaboration" "..desire of increasing Pakistan-Qatar defence cooperation" Qatar still think Nawaz sharif is Pakistan so they cooperate and collaborate in his defence. Seems like more ' authentic' letters from some high Qatari on the way " My father saw a dream where Shareef's father told him to hold the secret money for his grand kids and not to let Nawaz know as he has plundered billions of Pakistan , how would he keep few millions of old man"

Defence co-operation is a regular process. To become eligible to sell your jets - you need to eradicate the terrorism for once and all. You cannot let the violence and terrorism activities take place every now and then. Look at Qatar - It does not have the terrorism problem. So, if you want to be in a position to sell your arms and jet fighters - first setup a pure peaceful situation and armed force is not the only option for that because that can be used inside the country - for a trans-border terrorism - you need to be an expert in diplomacy.
