RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, who is on an official visit to Qatar, on Monday called on Qatar’s Minister of Defence Affairs Dr Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Attiyah.

Matters of regional security and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed, says a press release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The minister appreciated professional standing and performance of the Pakistan Army and expressed desire for increased Pakistan-Qatar defence collaboration.

Gen Bajwa also met Lt Gen (pilot) Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces.

Lt Gen Ghanim acknowledged Pakistan Army’s contribution to regional peace and stability through its fight against terrorism and militancy.

The COAS thanked both the dignitaries for their expressions.

He said the Pakistan Army greatly valued its defence cooperation and collaboration with Qatar.

Responding to desire of increasing Pakistan-Qatar defence cooperation, the COAS said that the proposed enhancement would have positive impact both on bilateral relationship as well as regional security.
