Asif, Adil flog hapless BD ‘A’

KARACHI, Dec 30: Wapda tightened their grip in the Patron’s Trophy Pool ‘A’ match against Bangladesh ‘A’ with Asif Hussain and Adil Nisar helping themselves to centuries at UBL Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Asif hit 139 while Adil ended the day with an unbeaten 143 as Wapda plundered 383 for four in reply to the tourists’ dismal first innings tally of 166 after resuming at 58 for two.

Asif, whose 240-ball knock in a stay of 318 minutes was laced with 20 fours and one six, put on 190 in 225 minutes with Adil.

The left-handed Adil made amends for missing his century by six runs in the Patron’s Cup on Sunday, by smashing 13 fours and a brace of sixes during his 239-ball innings.

Shoaib Khan also found the runs easy to come by against a pedestrian bowling attack. He made 48 in the unbroken stand of 127 in 113 minutes with Adil.

Hannan Sarkar, the Bangladesh ‘A’ captain, surprised everyone by his tactics when he chose not to take the second new ball when it was due after 80 overs as the spinners looked increasingly innocuous.
