BAHAWALNAGAR: A student of the Daanish school in Chishtian is fighting for life at Lahore’s Services Hospital for the last two weeks after she suffered multiple wounds on the campus under mysterious circumstances.

Imran, brother of Sidra Shahab, alleges that the school administration is involved in injuring his sister after she refused to change her hostel room to accommodate another student.

A resident of Gulab village, Imran further accuses the school administration of forcing him to withdraw the statement against them otherwise he will have to face dire consequences. He says the girl was dragged in the stairs and tortured as a result of which she had her legs, jaw and spine injured.

“What makes the matter worse is doctors at the Services Hospital are on strike and her sister is in agony,” he says.

The school administration claims that the girl fell from the stairs and it had ordered an inquiry of its own.

Sources told Dawn that the government had suspended the Daanish school principal from service and formed a committee to probe the incident.

The orphan girl (Sidra) is one of six sisters and a brother and is no one to turn to. People have demanded that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif take notice of the incident.

District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Rana Imtiaz said the girl was brought to the hospital in a critical condition and immediately referred to the Services Hospital.

Quoting Sidra, a doctor at the Services Hospital said she felt someone had pushed her down from the roof but could not name anybody.
