RAWALPINDI: In a late-night development Pakistan decided to close its border with Afghanistan.

Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, the director general of Inter-Services Public Relations, announced the significant decision through a tweet: “Pakistan-Afghanistan Border closed with immediate effects till further orders due to security reasons.”

Earlier in the day, Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said during his visit to Mohmand and Bajaur Agencies that terrorists were trying to regroup in safe havens in Afghanistan.
