KARACHI, Dec 28: The process of admissions to first year degree classes at city colleges would start from January 1, with the issuance of admission forms.

A decision to this effect was reached at a meeting of colleges principals, held with the vice-chancellor, Karachi University, Dr Zafar Said Saify, in the chair, on Saturday.

According to the plan, admission forms pertaining to part-I admissions would be accepted from students till Jan 21. However forms with a late fee of Rs500 could be submitted up to Feb 11.

The forms and fees pertaining to the second year bachelor programmes would be accepted till Feb 19, while the same could be submitted with a late fee of Rs500 up to March 3, a KU press release said.

For submission of enrolment forms, March 11 has been fixed as last date without any late fee, while with a late fee of Rs500 and Rs1,000, forms could be submitted up to April 2 and April 9, respectively.

It was also decided at the meeting that BSc Part-I classes at the colleges would commence on Jan 22, while that of Part-II on Feb 20.

The meeting also took serious view of the delay in release of examination results. The vice-chancellor constituted an eight-member committee, with the university registrar, Dr Fahimuddin, as its convener to prepare a report and submit recommendations with regard to the timely announcement of results to KU vice-chancellor.

The members of the committee on examination results are: Prof Muhammad Aslam, Prof M S K Lodhi, Prof Anis Zaidi, Dr Tanvir Anjum, Prof Razia Zafar, Dean Arts faculty of the university, Dr Abuzar Wajdi and Dr Mansoor Ahmad of the KU Pharmacy faculty.
