LAHORE: A man standing murder trial was shot dead outside the district and sessions court in Islampura police precincts on Tuesday.

Aamir Fiyaz, 40, of Samanabad, had come to the court to appear before the judge. He was at the parking lot when his opponent, Hamza Asif, shot at and injured him and fled. He was taken to the Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his fatal wounds.

Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case against Hamza.

Investigating Officer Inspector Tariq said Aamir was standing trial for killing car showroom owner Kashif in 2013 in Samanabad.

Aamir absconded for four years and got pre-arrest bail from the sessions court some two months ago.

He said initial investigations showed Hamza was the adopted son of Kashif and he might have killed Aamir to settle the score.

He said raids were being conducted to arrest Hamza.
