MUZAFFARABAD: After a considerable silence, Indian troops resorted to unprovoked shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday. However, no casualties were reported.

The exchange of fire took place in the Khanjar sector in Bhimber district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the afternoon, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a brief statement. “Indian troops initiated unprovoked firing at the LoC on Sunday afternoon, using RPG-7 and AGL,” it said.

RPG-7 is a portable, reusable, unguided, shoulder-launched, anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade launcher, while AGL is a grenade launcher firing rounds in quick succession from an ammunition belt or large-capacity magazine.

The ISPR said Pakistani troops “effectively responded to silence Indian firing”.

On Jan 19, Indian troops had shelled Jandrot and Nakyal sectors in Kotli district and Baroh and Khanjar sectors in Bhimber district, but no casualties occurred.
