RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has expressed condolences over the killing of United Arab Emirates nationals in bombings in Afghanistan’s Kandahar city.

According to an Inter- Services Public Relations press release, the COAS met the ambassador of the UAE to Pakistan, Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi, at the General Headquarters.

The COAS appreciated the ambassador’s efforts in improving Pak-UAE cooperation in various fields, thanking him for the UAE’s contributions to various development projects in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The UAE ambassador to Pakistan appreciated Pakis­tan Army’s efforts to fight terrorism and militancy in the region, the ISPR said.

AJK PM meets COAS

Meanwhile, Prime Minis­ter of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan called on Gen Bajwa at the GHQ here on Wednesday.

The security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and other matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet.

The COAS assured the prime minister that the army was fully prepared and capable of responding to all types of threats from across (the LoC).

Prime Minister Khan thanked Gen Bajwa for the army’s contributions to security and development in AJK.
