ISLAMABAD: The second edition of Jubilee Insurance National Junior Snooker Championship entered into the pre-quarter-final stage at the Pakistan Sports Complex’s billiards and snooker hall here on Wednesday.

Punjab’s promising Naseem Akhtar continued his winning streak and made a break of 70 against Mubashir Khan of KP. He won the battle 3-0 with game score of 67-17, 87-10, 115-05(70).

Interestingly, all seven players from Islamabad including champion Kamran Chaudhry could not qualify for the next stage.

Kamran faced 1-3 defeat at the hands of Shehyar Khan of Sindh with the game score of 47-34, 26-61, 69-31, 62-31.

Whereas, the only player from Balochistan Umair Khan also could not make into the next stage as he after a well-fought five frames lost to KP’s Fair-ur-Rehman 3-2 (51-38, 36-56, 48-25, 30-42, 61-42).

After the three-day league round, following 16 players have qualified for the pre-quarter final: Naseem Akhtar, Umar Farooq, Saud Khan, M. Sheraz Raza, M. Hamza Ilyas, Sheikh Ahmad, M. Rafique, Ahsan Ramzan, Raees Ali Usama Shehyar Khan, Shaikh Mudassir, Abdullah Saeed, Umer Azhar, M. Saqib junior, Shazaib Malik and Rameen Ashraf.

Of them, 10 are from Punjab, four from Sindh and two from KP.
