CHARSADDA: As many as 40 suspected persons were arrested and a big cache of arms and ammunition was recovered in a joint search and strike operation conducted by police and security forces in Haleemzai area in the limits of Shabqadar police station here on Friday.

According to officials raids were conducted on dozens of houses, where 40 suspected persons were taken into custody.

A big cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from them. The seizure included nine Kalashnikovs, 10 rifles, six repeaters, three Kalakovs, 35 pistols, six magazines and 1,400 cartridges.

Women police, personnel of bomb disposal squad and sniper dogs also participated in the search operation.
